Note | Since 2005 Taka Bonerate National Park has been nominated to UNESCO to become a World Heritage Site. In the series of Selayar Islands anniversary in this location each year held a festival called Sail Taka Bonerate or previously called Takabonerate Island Expedition (TIE).
The status of the Taka Bonerate area begins as a nature reserve based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry no. 100 / Kpts-II / 1989. Later it was designated as National Park based on Forestry Minister Decree no. 280 / KPTS-II / 1992, dated February 26, 1992 and stipulated by Decree of the Minister of Forestry no. 92 / KPTS-II / 2001, dated March 15, 2001 with an area of 530,765 ha. In 1997, the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) was established to manage the Park area, under the Decree of the Minister of Forestry No. 185 / Kpts-II / 1997, dated March 31, 1997. Since June 10, 2002 has been changed to National Park Type C at Echelon III level, in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Forestry no. 6186 / Kpts-II / 2002 on the Organization and Administration of the National Park Authority. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Forestry Number P.03 / Menhut-II / 2007 dated February 1, 2007 on the Organization and Working Procedures of the National Park Technical Implementation Unit was changed to Balai Taman Nasional Type B consisting of Sub Division of Administration, and II and Functional Position Groups with the main duty of conducting the conservation of biological natural resources and their ecosystem and management of national park area based on the prevailing laws and regulations. The management of Taka Bonerate National Park area is implemented by zoning system. The zonation determination within the Park area is based on the Decision of Directorate General of PHKA Number: 150 / IV-SET / 2012 Decision Letter dated 17 September 2012 on Taka Bonerate National Park Zoning. Zoning in the area consists of 4 zones, namely Core Zone (8,341 Ha), Marine Protection Zone (21,188 Ha), Utilization Zone (500,879) divided into 4 designations, ie zones designated for communities in the area, , a zone reserved for the general public and a zone devoted to tourism activities and the Special Zone (357 Ha). |

Note; Administratively, Taka Bonerate National Park area is located in Taka Bonerate sub-district before becoming National Park in 1992, Taka Bonerate area is located in two administrative subdistrict area, that is northern part of Macan Islands that enter into Pasimasunggu sub district and southern part is Pasitallu Islands which entered into the District Pasimarannu. |
