Note | The Ponda-ponda area was proposed to be a conservation area by the Regional Office of the Department of Forestry of South Sulawesi Province through letter number 238 / Kwss-6/3/1988 dated March 2, 1988. The proposal was then supported by the Governor of South Sulawesi Province through his letter number 522.02 / 2641 / BKPMD dated 5 August 1988 addressed to the Minister of Forestry.
The proposal was then supported by Director General of PHPA through letter number 548 / DJ-VI / TN / 1989, dated March 21, 1989. Pondaponda area was then designated as Nature Reserve by Minister of Forestry Decree No. 319 / Kpts-II / 1990, dated 26 June 1990 and determined by Decree of the Minister of Forestry and Plantation No. 201 / Kpts-II / 1999, dated 14 April 1999 covering an area of 77.22 ha. |

Identification | Secondary Forest Ecosystem Type. Vegetation is dominated by tree species and shrubs. The type of flora that is endemic and the population is quite large in this area is Diospyros celebica.
Entering these heavily lined forests should be preceded by thickets of ferns, especially Gleichenia linearis and Carex filicina populations and the dominance of species of palms. (Arecaceae) such as Calamus sp., Gronop-Ium microcarpum, Korthalsia celebica, Pinanga caesia and Licuala rumphii. In addition to the palm types, some other interesting and potentially ornamental plants are from the Araceae tribe such as Alocasia sp., Which dominate the undergrowth and attract orchids Malaxis sp and Vanilla sp. As for the type of large plants other than the type of ebony (Diospyros cdebica), this region is also dominated by the type of potentially fruit Garcinia dulcis. more search required …? |
