Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve was first proposed to be conserved in 1989 by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Forestry of Central Sulawesi Province. Previously, the Governor of Central Sulawesi Province issued Decree No. SK.188.44 / 3932 / Dinhut / 89, dated 30 August 1989 on the designation of protected forest area, other use area and part of marine waters located in Donggala Level Region, Poso, Tolitoli, and Luwuk Banggai Central Sulawesi Province as nature reserve and forest tour.
The proposed appointment of Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve as a conservation area was responded by Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation (PHPA) in 1995. In 1998 the Minister of Forestry and Plantation issued Decree Number 399 / Kpts-II / 1998 dated 21 April 1998 on appointment forest area of Pangi Binangga located in Central Sulawesi Province covering ± 6,000 (six thousand) Ha as forest area with Nature Reserve function.
In 1997/1998 Padang Binangga Nature Reserve has been laid out by its function on the north and south sides of the nature reserve area. While the boundary on the western and eastern sides is still the boundary of Protected Forest because Padang Binangga Nature Reserve is a change of function of Protection Forest. Therefore, to obtain a stronger legal certainty then the government needs to do the boundary arrangement in temu gelang, mapping and determination of Pangga Binangga Nature Reserve area.

Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve has generally very heavy slopes are very steep (81.65%) and others are steep (18.35%).
Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve has quartzite rock type, sand and shale with inceptisols soil type, ultisols and entisols. The soil type of CA Pangi Binangga area is haplusterts haplustepts derived from sediment parent rock with sub landformation is tectonic plain.
