Identification | The Faruhumpenai Nature Reserve is rich in various plant species such as Diospyros celebica, Callophyllum sp, Santinia sp, Agathis sp, Palaquium sp, and Nephenthes sp. Esti Munawaroh et al (LIPI) in her 2001 survey found around 95 species of orchids in the Faruhumpenai Nature Reserve where 4 new orchid species, 1 rare orchid and 1 endemic orchid. The new orchid species found by LIPI are Peristylus goodyeroides, Goodyera sp (white flowers), Goodyera sp. (Green leaves), and Dendrobium sp. The type of rare orchid found in the Faruhumpenai Nature Reserve is Phalaenopsis amboinensis located at an altitude of 920 – 1100m.dpl. While the type of endemic orchid is Coelogyne celebesis which is found at an altitude of 400 – 500 meters above sea level. more search required …? |
