Note | At first this nature reserve is designated as a protected forest. But it has endemic plants and animals, and serves as the main water source for Jayapura and surrounding communities, then converted into a nature reserve. In 1978, based on several considerations about the significance of this region, the government changed its status to the Nature Reserve Area, which was stipulated by the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture no. 56 / Kpts / Um / 10 I / 1978, dated January 26, 1978 with an area of 22,520 ha, in 1987, the Government issued Decree of the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia no. 365 / Kpts-11/1987, dated 18 November 1987, on the reassurance of Kawasaan Cyclops Mountain Nature Reserve with an area of 22,520 ha. Further development, Cycloop Mountain Region based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 365 / Kpts-II / 1987, defined as 22,500 hectares of Nature Reserve area, crossing two administrative areas of Jayapura and Jayapura which is also the capital of Papua Province. |

Identification | This area consists of 5 main ecosystem types namely Lowland Rainforest, Lowland Rainforest, Mountain Forest, Secondary Forest, Grassland. The entire ecosystem is a natural ecosystem. Dominated by Pometia sp, Instia bijuga, Anisoptera sp, Dilennia sp, Dracontomelon sp, Firmiana sp, Callophylum sp, Myritica sp, Araucaria cuninghammi, Castanopsis sp, Querqus spp, Sapotaceae (Burcella magusun), Callophylum carii, Ficus spp and Syzybium spp and several species of orchids such as black orchids (Dendrobium lasianthera), orchids (D. violaceoflavens), Anggrek Jamrud Hitam (D. macrophyllum var gigantheum), Yellow Jamrud Orchids (D. macrophyllum A. rich), Yellow Orchids (D. connotum) , Orchid Tie (Bulbophyllum sp), Pine Orchid (D. smilliae), Orchid Rabbit (D. antenatum), Orchid Pouch (Paphiopedillum violascens). more search required …? |

Identification | Birds: Parrot King (Pobosciger atterimus), Paradisea minor, Palanger sp, Lorius domicella, Cacatua galerita triton, Dendrolagus sp, Goura victoria, Ornitophera sp, Electus rotatus, Casuarius sp Mammals: some types of bats. In the area of Cycloop Mountains Nature Reserve is estimated there are still thorny monotremata that is Landak Irian (Zaglossus attenborough).
