Note | Mt.Gamping natural park is designated by Decree of the Minister of Agriculture No. 562 / Kpts / Um / 7/1982, dated 21 July 1982 with an area of 0.015 hectare as a nature reserve, while as a natural tourism park of 1,102 hectares.The prominent potential in this region is the cultural heritage of the heritage. Both in the form of limestone from the Eosin era and the remains of the buildings belonging to the Yogyakarta Palace, as well as traditional ceremonies from generation to generation. While the potential of flora and fauna are only a few species that are still visible in the area, because the location is not far from the city and the crowd. In this region there is a 50-million-year-old remnant of Eosin’s limestone deposits. Is a rare limestone, measuring about 3 m x 5 m with a height of 15 m. In these rocks are like sea corals, there are remnants of fish fossils and other marine biota, in the form of strokes and distinctive colors that are listed on the limestone. Based on research, the stone has lime content of good quality. Around the reserve area there are also historical remains of ancient wall of former pesanggrahan Ambar Ketawang which is a temporary residence of Pangeran Hamengku Buwono I residing. Is the forerunner of the establishment of Yogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace built by Mangkubumi who titled ‘Sampeyan Dalem Ingkang Susuhunan Kanjeng Sultan Hamengku Buwono I’. In this area there is an arboretum planted with various crops for the environment keasrian surrounding nature reserves and natural attractions park, among other rare plants namely Kepel tree. |
