Note | Mount Abang is designated as a nature reserve based on the Decree of the Governor General of Dutch Indies No. 12 Stbl 1937 Number 579 dated 25 October 1937 with an area of 50.4 ha. In 1978 the Minister of Agriculture re-established Gunung Abang Nature Reserve through Decree No. 458 / Kpts / Um / 1978 dated 24 July 1978. |

Identification | dominated by, Forest vegetation in the area of Gunung Abang Nature Reserve is a lowland tropical rain forest ecosystem consisting of natural forests and plantations. Vegetation that can be found, among others: sempu (Dillenia pentagyna) which is a rare plant and on the island Sempu itself not found the plant. The dominant plant species are banyan (Ficus benyamina), luwing (Ficus hispida), Saga (Adenanthera microsperma), sweet sogo (Abrus precatorius), sengon tekik (Albizia lebbeckoides) and Kesambi (Scleicera oleosa). Vegetation on the cliffs of the Kudu River is dominated by ori bamboo, wulung bamboo, kepuh (Sterculia foetida) and bendo (Artocarpus elasticus). While plantation vegetation consists of teak species (Tectona grandis).
