Dolok Lubuk Raya Nature Reserve was designated as a nature reserve and in the management of KSDA Central Sumatera, based on Forestry Ministerial Decree number 44 / Menhutt-II / 2005 dated February 16, 2005 on Appointment of North Sumatra Provincial Forest Area with an area of ± 3,050 Ha.Previously this area was known as Register 2 and in 1982 has been recognized as a forest area through the Agreement Arrangement (THGK). The condition of the forest area of Dolok Lubuk Raya Nature Reserve (Reg.2) which has an area of 3,050 hectares, has not done the boundary.
This area is reportedly temporary, almost never monitored, because of its remote location and within the community, while the KSDA post is currently located at Aek Raso (Holiday Resort) some distance from the area.
Dominated by the Euphorbiaceae family, Myrtaceae, Anarcadiaceae and Moraceae, Dipterocarpaceae, Raflesia SP, Pinus Merkusii, Hornworn (Castanopsis Aeaecuminatissima), Hapas-breath (Exbucklandia populnea), Sengon (Albizia Procera), Beringin (Ficus SP).In addition, also found a bag of semar (nephentes). The highest peak of the hills and mountains surrounding the city of Padang Sidimpuan is Mount Lubuk Raya. Here is the habitat of orchid goddess shoe (phapio species). Flower shape such as shoes and complexion leaves black spots. (Ridhos Orchid, 2010)
