Note | The history of Kelimutu National Park noted that there are two important times that become the cornerstone of conservation management efforts in this area.
On October 4, 1984 based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry no. 185 / Kpts-II / 1984 the area is designated as Lake Kelimutu Nature Reserve which has an area of 16 ha only and Taman Kelimutu Park with a wider area of 4,984 ha. The establishment of Kelimutu National Park has just been realized on February 26, 1992 based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry no. 279 / Kpts-II / 1992 which is the change of the status of the area that had been a nature reserve and a tourist park into the National Park of Flores with an area of 5000 ha. |

Identification | Some plants in the Park include Albizia montana, Kebu (Homalanthus giganteus), tokotaka (Putranjiva roxburghii), uwi rora (Ardisia humilis), longgo steel (Drypetes subcubica), keo shop (Cyrtandra sp.) , deo wood (Trema cannabina), and kelo (Ficus villosa).
Some collections of flora that are endemic to Kelimutu are uta onga (Begonia kelimutuensis), turuwara (Rhododendron renschianum), and arngoni (Vaccinium varingiaefolium). Argonas are flowering small white and will turn black when ripe, believed to be local people as food of the gods. more search required …? |

Identification | Birds: Kelimutu National Park is home to 19 species of endangered birds including Flores (Treron florida), Wallacea owl (Otus silvicola), Sweep of the Jungle (Rhinomyias oscillans), Flores (Pachycephala nudigula), Pygmy dwarf (Pericrocotus lansbergei), testia Timor (Tesia everetti), opior crest (Lophozosterops dohertyi), thick half opio (Heleia crassirostris), gold chili (Dicaeum annae), Flores (Monarcha sacerdotum), matari honey (Nectarinia solaris), and Flores hawks (Sporisetus floris) …
Mammals: Of the four species of mammals endemic to this national park, which is often encountered are two mountain rats Bunomys naso and Rattus hainaldi.
