Note | Previous Bentayan Wildlife Sanctuary is a reg forest area. 29 within which there are protected flora-fauna of 1981 according to the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture Number. 276 / Kpts / Um / 4/1981, dated April 4, 1981 was appointed Bentayan Wildlife Reserve with an area of 19,300 ha in 1982 returned with Decree of the Minister of Agriculture Number. 925 / Kpts / Um / 12/1982, dated December 27, 1982 with an area of 19,300 ha. Year 1986 reappointed by Decree of Minister of Forestry no. 410 / Kpts-II / 1986, dated 29 December 1986 with an area of 38,000 ha. In 1985/1986 the definitive borders were defined with an area of 23,220 ha (14,780 ha of land cleared for rubber plantations, sedentary cultivation and community crops). Year 2001 reappointed by Decree of Minister of Forestry no. 76 / Kpts-II / 2001, dated March 15, 2001 with an area of 23,220 ha. Bentayan Wildlife Sanctuary condition is currently experiencing damage due to the encroachment of the area by the people around the area. Damage to the area due to encroachment estimated 20% of the area. |

Identification | The variety of flora contained in SM Bentayan are medang, mahang, sungkai, perupuk, rengas, and plants such as rattan, fractured, pandanus, and bush. Besides meranti (Shorea spp.), Pulai (Alstoniaspp.), Jelutung, durian, and outstretched. In addition there are several other types such as laban (Vitex pubescens), medang (Litsea sp.), Merawan (Hopea mangarawan), manggeris (Kompasea sp.), Merbau (Instia binua), tembesu (Fagrarea fagrans), and some plant species under such as rattan (Calamus sp.). more search required …? |
