Note | Based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry no. 279 / Kpts.-VI / 1997 dated May 23, 1997 Baluran National Park area has an area of 25,000 Ha. The type of savanna vegetation dominates Baluran National Park area which is about 40 percent of the total land area. In accordance with the allocation of the area is divided into several zones based on Decree No. PKA Dirjen. 187 / Kpts. / DJ-V / 1999 dated December 13, 1999 consisting of:
The name of the National Park is taken from the name of the mountain located in this area, Mount Baluran. This national park consists of savanna vegetation types, mangrove forests, seasonal forests, coastal forests, lowland forests, swamp forests and green forests throughout the year. |

Geologically Baluran National Park has two types of land classes, namely mountain land consisting of alluvial soil types and volcanic soils, as well as seabed land is limited only to the sand plains along the coast of the mangrove forest areas. The volcanic soil is derived from basalt weathering, volcanic ash, intermedia volcanic rocks in the form of a graded sequence of rocky soil conditions on steep and steep mountain slopes to deep deep alluvial soils. The black soil that covers about half the area of low land, overgrown with savanna grass. |

Identification | This National Park has about 444 species of plants and among them are native plants that are typical and able to adapt in very dry conditions.
